The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide an architecture to address some of our gravest challenges. Changing how we work, produce, and consume is crucial. If governments truly want to improve millions of lives, they must increase cooperation and focus on sustainable development – which means listening to the communities most affected by inequality and crafting environmentally friendly policies that prepare us all for future emergencies. It also means addressing long-standing problems such as poverty and, in particular, its impact on young people. Future generations deserve bold solutions and more creative thinking to address these issues.
This briefing is based on the views of a wide range of experts from the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network. It is curated in partnership with Gabriela Keseberg Dávalos, Lakshila Wanigasinghe, Dr. Fareeha Armughan, Protiva Kundu, Mathew Sahil, Rose Ngara-Muraya, Aba Obrumah Crentsil, Margarita Beneke de Sanfeliu, Diego Moreno, and Paula Szenkman from Southern Voice, a network of think tanks in Africa, Asia and Latin America serving as a platform to discuss the Sustainable Development Goals. This briefing of eight priorities from a Global South perspective is based on the knowledge of a wide range of scholars from Southern Voice. They analysed the state of play of:

The Forum developed Strategic Intelligence to help users navigate accelerating global complexity by understanding the forces at play and their systemic interconnections. The platform supports informed decision-making by contextualising topics across 290+ dynamic visualisations, known as the Transformation Maps. Each map combines the Forums Expert Network inputs with machine intelligence to tag the latest content and insights against each topic, using natural language processing and artificial intelligence.
The Strategic Intelligence team seeks out diverse experts to join their Expert Network and contribute to various topics, which inspired their outreach to Southern Voice.
